Grocery Prices in Uruguay

I thought it might be interesting to compare prices of my typical groceries in Montevideo with . . . what?  I dunno, this would be a lot better if I had kept my receipts for the same in Colombia and Argentina.  Oh well.  So instead I've compared them to the cost from Giant, which is what I'd be paying back in Virginia.

Mayonnaise 8.4 fl. oz. $2.23 ($4.20)

Bananas 1.3 lb. $1.78 ($1.15)

Milk 1L $1.13 ($1.71)

Bologna (mystery meat, so my best guess!) 0.44 lb. $5 ($2.99). [Update: ham $1.40 Brazil][Update: ham $1.58 Peru]

 "Sandwich" cheese 0.46 lb. $2.73 ($3.70) [Update: $1.99 Brazil][Update: $3.72 Peru]

Sliced loaf bread 1.1 lb. $3.10 ($4.40)

Lays "Classic" potato chips 0.52 lb. $5.75 ($4.54)

$21.72 for Montevideo vs. $22.69 for Giant.

My conclusion?  Mixed, some more some less. Looks like I'd be best off with cheese 'n' mayo sandwiches, and lay (heh) off the chips!  But I'm looking for places that are *cheaper* to live in than the U.S.
