Montevideo Walk (II) + Surprise Dinner

 This time I did a walk down to the Mercado del Puerto.



The Plaza Zabala, very pretty, with a statue of the General himself:




Most of the area around the market is pedestrianized and quite nice:


It's another 'hidden' market accessible via non-obvious entrances in the street:


Inside it's the usual mix of shops and eateries.  Notice the filigree work in the ceiling:



For dinner I had . . . empanadas!  These were made with flour and baked, like in Argentina.  Ham & cheese and vegetarian, these were excellent.
