Montevideo Walk (II) + Surprise Dinner
This time I did a walk down to the Mercado del Puerto.
The Plaza Zabala, very pretty, with a statue of the General himself:
Most of the area around the market is pedestrianized and quite nice:
It's another 'hidden' market accessible via non-obvious entrances in the street:
Inside it's the usual mix of shops and eateries. Notice the filigree work in the ceiling:
For dinner I had . . . empanadas! These were made with flour and baked, like in Argentina. Ham & cheese and vegetarian, these were excellent.
