New Hotel + Montevideo Walk

Another week, another hotel (yawn).  Smallest room but biggest TV so far, so that's fair enough.

There's a strip club three doors down for your (not my) convenience:

Recyclables diving guy:

A drunk guy in the street asked me for a cigarette, but I said no, I only had one left (a lie, I had two) but through gestures I let him take a drag from my cigarette.  I'm never too proud to mingle saliva with random strangers!

Not far from the Hispanic Hotel is Plaza Independencia, the largest square in Montevideo, with a statue of General José Artigas, an independence hero, and surrounded by some interesting buildings.

There are also multiples of these granite excrudescences that serve no purpose I can imagine:

On the west side of the square is the Puerta de la Ciudadela, remnants of the old town:

. . . which leads to (yet another!) pedestrianized walkway with all sorts of vendors:

. . . which leads to the very pretty Plaza Constitution;
