3 Favorite Artworks

One of the joys of my travels have been the art museums.  Sure, it's fun to go to the Louvre and see the Mona Lisa from behind plexiglass 20 feet away pressed up against random strangers and some guy who smells like sausage and may or may not pick your pocket at any time, but it's also fun to discover new artists in more relaxing circumstances and add their names to your "artists I like" brain bank (with a big thank you to Google image match).

#1:

This is "Sympathy" (1955) by Spanish-Mexican surrealist artist Remedios Varo.  I love the cat and the "energy field," the composition, the lines and the colors.  And just how much water is in that cup?

#2:

From Brazilian sculptor Maria Martins, this is "The Impossible." Fascinating transformation of a woman into a Venus fly trap plant.

#3: Argentine artist Léon Ferrari's "Untitled" from the series "Xadrez" (Chess).  I call it "Little Pedestrians (seen from above):"

(you have to zoom in)  I've seen a few other works by this artist, and they are similar, abstract from a distance, then you get closer and get at least an idea of what he's on about.

That's just three for now, thanks for viewing!
