Inadvertent Guinea Pig Flirtation?
Peruanos consider Bread with Crispy Pork as a breakfast sandwich, but for me it's delicious any time of the day, the pork crispy but juicy, the sweet potato a nice foil, and onions/ lime for a kick.
With takeaway the sauces come in little plastic baggies.
It took about 10 minutes to prepare, gotta get the pork extra crispy!! S/ 13 ($3.80) and delicious. From a hole in the wall, but better (and 1/2 the price) from an iconic Lima sandwich shop.
Me looking over the menu, and asking, in Spanish, "Will there be cuy (guinea pig) tomorrow?"
"Yes, we have it every day."
"Great. It's a typical Peruvian dish that I haven't tried yet, so I'll be back tomorrow."
"I haven't tried it either."
"No?"
"No, I'm from Venezuela."
"Ah, Venezuelan . . . tomorrow we will try guinea pig together."
Was I flirting? Just a bit at there at the end?
