Santiago Walking Tour
I did a 3-1/2 hour (!) walking tour of the Old Town, Lascarria and Bella Vista neighborhoods. Free with tips! This one was *very* heavy on history, so I'm glad I can just remember at least the basics. The Old Town I had mostly done before.
Legend has it that this was the first resto Clinton went to after giving some important speech, so the owner renamed it in his honor.
More legends . . . supposedly each boy is a different country and the various relationships are echoed in their relative positions and postures. It made sense at the time!
Lascarria is the hip & trendy neighborhood, and Bella Vista is very studenty. Both have loads of street art as well as shops and cafes, etc.
The tower in the back was a torture center during the Pinochet era.
San Cristobal "hill" in the background is actually a dormant volcano.
