How to Tell If You're Comfortable in a New Country

It all has to do with change.  If you can at a glance be sure they've given you the proper change, and no longer give the smallest bill and use change instead, you're comfortable!

In Mexico, there are four peso coins (plus a few more of lesser denominations, but you rarely see them).

The 10 peso (60 ¢) coin is easy.  It's the one with gold on the outside.  The $5, $2, and $1 all have gold in the center, so you have to distinguish them by size.  Or you can flip them over and look at the number, but that's a rookie mistake!  It's also a rookie mistake to think that the '$' means dollars!

I love the Mexican banknotes, so colorful.

And especially the beautiful Monarch butterflies.
